What was once an old cattle barn, is now The Big Tin Barn, a fully accessible luxury holiday home catering for up to 9 guests. Our spacious property has a full range of high quality equipment to ensure families, friends and carers can relax, enjoy time together and all enjoy a well-deserved, peaceful break.

Floor Plan

Not short of space, every effort has been made to ensure we are able to meet your complex care needs. Features include rise and fall kitchen units, ceiling track hoist, two profiling beds with adjustable railings, and airflow mattress.

Our large wet room come complete with aqua spa bath, rise and fall sink unit, wash dry toilet and adjustable toilet railings. Our shower trolley, mobile hoist and Jiraffe shower chair are available on request. A further 3 double bedrooms and 2 shower suits cater for large groups.

A Somerset Stay

Set in the heart of our farm, we welcome guests to visit the cattle shed, a short, 200m wheelchair friendly walk from The Big Tin Barn. Meet our herd of Highland Cattle who can often be seen grazing in the fields that surround you.

First Floor Accommodation for Family/Carers

Separate bookable accommodation space available upstairs in the same building for 2-4 extra guests (2-4). However, this is not classed as accessible accommodation and incurs an extra nightly fee.

Onsite Assistance Available

The property owners live in close proximity and can be contacted with any issues or requirements. Please note: this is not a 24 hour service.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What can I say, absolutely perfect! We have 15 year old twins with severe cerebral palsy and a host of co-morbidites. As they've grown it has become more and more difficult, and frankly stressful sometimes, to take them on holiday along with their carers. Most disabled access holiday homes only cater for one wheelchair user and don't always have extra rooms for carers/extended family. The Big Tin Barn caters for two wheelchair users, with plenty of rooms for carers and family, and has thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay. So much space and so accessible, and in the most beautiful tranquil surroundings. Our holiday here this year (August 2025) was so much easier and a complete pleasure, just magical.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We spent two weeks in this perfect adapted holiday accommodation. The bathroom was well-equipped and very spacious. It has a Geberit wash and dry toilet, which I have not seen in any wheelchair accessible accommodation so far.
I enjoyed the shower and could easily be moved with the hoist.
Furthermore, I was able to sleep well on the profiler bed. The bedroom was spacious and the kitchen was very well-equipped. Luckily, I didn't have to cook myself this time ;-) , but I could have.

Not only is the accommodation very well adapted, but it also a very comfortably furnished house.
Everything has been carefully thought out to ensure that people with different disabilities can benefit from it.
During the two weeks we spent our holiday there, we made many excursions and saw a lot.

All the equipment is great, especially the celling track hoist, and the place is big enough to accommodate large families and carers, has it as separate accommodation upstairs which consists of a large living room with balcony a large bedroom and shower and toilet.also the place is exceptionally clean.the gardens are also lovely, with the highland cows as neighbours.will definitely be returning. The accommodation is so comfortable and so well designed for family holidays with wheelchair users. We were able to accommodate our family along with some carers. But it doesn't look like a hospital! Far from it, it looks like a high end home but with the benefits of it being easy with a wheelchair. Plenty to do in the area. Look forward to another visit.

The equipment, both for the disabled users, and everyone else was outstanding, and we have never stayed anywhere so spacious. The owners also have a fantastic eye for tasteful interior design.

To top it off, there is a huge number of extremely good pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area – the 5Dials is minutes away, the Flying Fish (Caribbean) not much further.

And for those who don't mind spending a little bit more, the Barrington Boar lives up to its Michelin gastropub status… definitely not your average pub grub faire.

We cannot recommend this place enough, and only hope we don't have to fight others off for bookings next year :-)

We have stayed in many 'accessible' holiday homes with our son over the years and our recent stay at The Big Tin Barn blew them all out of the water. The fantastic design and attention to detail meant that we were relaxed as soon as we arrived. Rosie was great and videos are available to watch if you are unsure of any of the equipment. The decor is fabulous and we all felt at home, we also booked upstairs as our son's PA joined us, this enabled everyone to have their own space. I'd say it was like having all the equipment you have at home but actually it was miles better! Went with our daughter who is a wheelchair user; the H track ceiling hoists were a delight.  As was the profiling spa bath and bed and Closomat toilet.

It has been furnished to a v high  standard with all mod cons and is meticulously clean.  Rosie and Chris are super friendly and helpful.

Cannot recommend The Big Tin Barn enough!  It made a great base for numerous days out. We hired the upstairs accommodation in addition to the accessible barn and it was fabulous.  So spacious.  All fantastic value for money.

In most places we've been to wheelchair-access is an after-thought, but here it was at the core and it really made it possible to relax fully and easily. The kitchen is incredible, we've never experienced so many accessibility features and it was a dream.

The Big Tin Barn isn't just about access, it's beautiful inside and out and a lovely place to spend time as a family. We enjoyed day trips to Lyme Regis and Longleat Safari, had a great takeaway pizza from The Bell and a lovely dinner at Five Dials just a few minutes down the road.
